As a Sacramento based photographer I am always out scouting the best locations for your senior photography session. I have compiled a list of my top 5 favorite locations in the greater Sacramento Area.
Gibson Ranch County Park- Gibson Ranch is a beautiful park located on the outskirts of the greater Sacramento/Roseville Area. Stocked with the most picturesque back drops, Gibson Ranch is also home to many farm animals, including horses, chickens, goats, and if your lucky you will even see a peacock or two! Gibson Ranch is perfect for that country vibe, it has many wooden fences to lean, sit, and climb on, a beautiful pond with a wooden pier, huge trees, an old wooden bridge and the most beautiful sunsets you have every seen. Even if you aren’t taking photos there I recommend going out for a visit, you won’t be disappointed!
Folsom Lake Recreation Area- Folsom Lake, located in Folsom, CA is a must see location. A beautiful blue lake surrounded by the most beautiful white sand and huge granite rocks. The sand is so white it almost feels as though you are on the beaches of Mexico! Chalked full of amazing places to shoot, Folsom Lake is home to the Lupine super bloom, in which thousands of beautiful purple flowers blanket the shores of Beals Point, a favorite location within Folsom Lake.
California State Capitol- Located in the heart of downtown Sacramento, California’s State Capitol is surrounded by natures beauty and an urban cityscape— for the High School Senior who wants the best of both worlds! The Capitol is colorful year round, there is always something in bloom, whether it be the World Peace Rose Garden, the lavender bushes, orange trees, or the beautiful changing leaves in the fall, there is an abundance of color in every direction. If you walk across the street you can get that Sacramento city and urban vibe! Cute alleyways, with beautiful murals are in abundance on almost every corner. If you are looking for a location with many looks, this is your spot!
Royer Park in Roseville, CA- Royer Park is a small park nestled near Old Roseville. This park just got a complete makeover, and is as beautiful as ever. The amazing Rube Nelson “Ice House” pedestrian bridge is a magnificent place to take photos. Below the bridge is Dry Creek and in the summer a very cute spot to dip your toes in for a few water photos. Across the street from Royer Park are the downtown streets of Old Roseville, and when lit up at night make for a fun backdrop. Royer Park is perfect for any senior!
Old Sacramento- Located on the shores of the Sacramento Delta and adjacent to the Downtown Sacramento Area- If you are really into that Urban vibe this is your location! With all of the amazing brick buildings, Old Sacramento offers textures and depth to every photo snapped. The Tower Bridge is a focal point in Old Sacramento and should be as well in your photos. The beautiful gold color will make you and your photos glow. Walking down to the piers below Joes Crab Shack are the perfect backdrop to capture the delta and some variety in your photos. There are so many great places all over Old Sacramento to snap photos, but be sure to grab a mini donut at Danny’s Mini Donuts on the way out… you won’t be disappointed!
Sacramento is home to many beautiful locations, so go out take a drive and discover what the beautiful Capitol City has to offer!
