How to Shoot in the Wildflowers | Natomas Senior Portrait Photographer Alisha Cole of Colehearted Photography walks you through how to take the best photos in the wildflowers.
Shoot in the last 30-60 minutes of the day. This is very important! Shooting in the middle of the day when the sun is high in the sky will make harsh shadows on your face and around you. Shooting when the sun is about to set will give off warm beautiful light and make your subject glow.
Shoot in filtered light. For example trees behind your subject to filter the light. See example below.
If you can’t shoot in filtered light, keep the sun just out of your frame. Position your camera, or your phone, on your subject, and move a bit so the sun is just barley our of your frame. I see huge open mustard fields everywhere with no trees to filter the light, so this is a great trick for those areas.
Shoot from above. This not only will help with lighting, but also gives interest to your photos and makes your subjects eyes sparkle in the light.
The wildflowers will only be blooming for a bit longer, so go out there and run, laugh, spin, and play in them!
Go shoot in the wildflowers and show me your beautiful work… or just call me to do it for you! Hahaha
I have been photographing seniors for over a decade, and I promise you an experience you won’t get from anyone else!
