As a Folsom Photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of capturing the vibrant and dynamic scenes that summer brings. Each season comes with its unique set of trends, and this summer is no different. Some trends enhance the beauty of the moments we capture, while others might not yield the best results. Let’s dive into the summer photography trends that work and those that don’t, from the perspective of a seasoned Folsom Photographer.
One trend that consistently delivers stunning results is shooting during the golden hour. This period shortly after sunrise and just before sunset provides the perfect lighting for photography. The soft, warm light casts a magical glow on subjects, creating captivating images. As a Folsom Photographer, I always recommend scheduling shoots during these times to take full advantage of the natural light.
Summer is synonymous with bright, bold colors. Incorporating vibrant hues and patterns into your photos can make them pop. Whether it’s a family portrait with everyone dressed in bright summer outfits or a landscape shot highlighting the lush greenery, vibrant colors add a lively touch to your photos. Bold patterns also add an interesting visual element, making the pictures more engaging.
Summer is a time for fun and relaxation, and candid shots can beautifully capture the essence of these moments. Rather than always posing subjects, let them interact naturally with their surroundings. As a Folsom Photographer, I find that candid shots often tell the best stories, whether it’s kids playing in the park or a couple enjoying a picnic.
While filters can enhance a photo, overusing them can make images look unnatural. This summer, the trend is moving towards a more natural look, with minimal editing to maintain the integrity of the shot. Over-processing can detract from the authenticity of a photograph, so it’s best to use filters sparingly. As a Folsom Photographer, I advise focusing on capturing great shots that need minimal editing.
Using props can add a fun element to your photos, but it’s easy to go overboard. Too many props or overly elaborate setups can distract from the main subject and make the photo look cluttered. Simple and meaningful props work best, enhancing the story without overwhelming the scene. In my experience as a Folsom Photographer, less is often more when it comes to props.
While bright, evenly lit photos can look clean and fresh, high-key lighting can sometimes wash out details and create flat images. It’s crucial to balance the light to retain the depth and texture of the subjects. Using natural light and strategic shadows can create a more dynamic and visually appealing photo.
Timeless portrait techniques remain in vogue for a reason. Classic portraits with well-composed shots, proper lighting, and genuine expressions never go out of style. As a Folsom Photographer, I ensure that these tried-and-true methods are a staple in my sessions, providing clients with images that will be cherished for years to come.
While summer is all about color, black and white photography can offer a refreshing contrast. It brings out the details and emotions in a photograph, emphasizing textures and expressions. This classic technique can add a sophisticated touch to your summer portfolio.
Capturing subjects in their natural environment tells a more comprehensive story. Whether it’s a beach, park, or urban setting, environmental portraits add context and depth to your photos. As a Folsom Photographer, I love integrating the surroundings into my shots, making each photo unique and meaningful.
Summer photography trends are all about capturing the essence of the season with vibrancy and authenticity. As a Folsom Photographer, my goal is to embrace the trends that enhance the beauty of the moment while staying true to timeless techniques that never fail to deliver. By focusing on natural light, candid moments, and subtle enhancements, you can create stunning summer photos that stand the test of time.
Whether you’re a fellow photographer or someone looking to capture your summer memories, these insights will help you navigate the trends and create photos you’ll love. Happy shooting!
